OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Plugins for ChatGPT Plus Users
OpenAI has finally launched its ChatGPT Plugins, extending ChatGPT’s functionality to its Plus users. This feature will allow users to expand the abilities of ChatGPT, making it a much more powerful tool for generative AI. ChatGPT Plugins will enable users to streamline various processes, offering them the ability to research up-to-date information and find the best deals. By utilizing the tools of notable companies, such as Expedia, FiscalNote, Instacart, KAYAK, Klarna, Milo, OpenTable, Shopify, Slack, Speak, Wolfram, and Zapier, ChatGPT Plugins offer an upgraded user experience that integrates AI and the internet.
ChatGPT had faced limitations with its official data cut-off point towards the end of 2021, which was its primary weakness. However, with ChatGPT Plugins and Web Browsing, OpenAI has finally solved that problem. The Web Browsing feature allows ChatGPT Plus to browse the internet, enabling users to cross-check information, return up-to-the-minute information, and reference specific data. Unlike Google Bard and Microsoft Bing AI’s search engines, ChatGPT previously lacked this ability. However, with the addition of Web Browsing, users will no longer have to research information outside of ChatGPT’s interface.
Enabling Web Browsing and ChatGPT Plugins is easy. Simply go to the “Beta Features Settings” in your settings and toggle both features. Once enabled, you can choose between Web Browsing or Plugins by using the ChatGPT model switcher.
As of now, only ChatGPT Plus users can enjoy experimental features. However, OpenAI is rolling out these features to all Plus users via the Beta Panel. Although ChatGPT is currently behind Google’s PaLM 2 and Bard AI update, OpenAI has responded by offering ChatGPT Plus users access to Plugins and Web Browsing.
