ChatGPT’s New Store Offers Specialized AI Software for Everything from Corny Jokes to Job Applications

GPT Store Revolutionizes AI with Personalized Apps

OpenAI has launched the GPT Store, allowing developers to sell and distribute customized versions of AI software. Users can discover and build tailored versions for specific topics or needs.

The store will offer custom versions of ChatGPT, created by developers who pay a subscription fee to OpenAI. Personalized AI applications will be available, such as AI bots for dinner recipes or math homework, and a program to generate “yo mama” jokes.

Sonia Sennik, executive director at the University of Toronto’s Creative Destruction Lab, called the new store an “avenue for accessibility,” while Gillian Hadfield, a professor of law at the University of Toronto, expressed concerns about liability for mistakes made by these AI apps.

The GPT Store has already attracted users, such as Vancouver-based tech company Commit, which developed a custom AI app to help tech workers apply for jobs.

OpenAI initially delayed the store’s launch but now plans to roll it out to paid ChatGPT users and intends to add a way for GPT creators to monetize their personalized AIs.
