セコムが「AIドローン」を導入、警備業界の人手不足解決に一役買うか

Revolutionizing Security: Japan Unveils First AI Drone for Surveillance

In a bid to address the challenges posed by an aging workforce and severe manpower shortage, the security industry in Japan has introduced a groundbreaking innovation – the country’s first AI drone.

The drone, announced today, will be deployed by leading security firm Secom starting next year. Its standout feature is the integration of “image AI,” enabling it to capture images of people and vehicles and learn patterns of movement and object recognition. During patrols, the AI can detect suspicious activity, immediately share it with the monitoring center, and autonomously track intruders if identified by the surveillance team.

According to Secom Executive Ueda, the introduction of AI drones is a response to the critical shortage of security personnel, exacerbated by the aging workforce in the industry. To combat the growing issue, various companies are turning to cutting-edge technologies such as robots and drones.

Ueda highlights the advantages of AI drones over traditional security measures, emphasizing their ability to provide swift responses and dispatch security personnel to the scene as needed.

As the industry grapples with ongoing personnel shortages, the adoption of AI for operational efficiency is gaining momentum.
