大分県の工業系高校の教諭が学校現場でチャット(チャット)GPTなど生成系AIを活用するために研修を行う

Using AI-powered chatbots and other generative AI technologies in school settings was the focus of a training workshop held for industrial high school teachers for two days. The workshop, organized by KCS Oita Information School, aimed to educate teachers on the applications of generative AI and invited guest lecturers from the school. Approximately 40 teachers from prefectural industrial high schools attended, learning about the features of chatbots and other generative AI technologies, as well as examples of how they can be utilized in educational environments.

Regarding the use of generative AI, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) released provisional guidelines in July. While MEXT anticipates the potential benefits of group learning and utilizing generative AI as a conversational partner for English practice, they stated that it is not suitable for activities such as book reports. One participating teacher mentioned, “I realized that I still have a lot to learn and that using generative AI in situations like this can be beneficial for my students. I hope to gradually incorporate it into activities like homeroom sessions and practical exercises.”

To promote the use of generative AI in school settings, MEXT suggests the establishment of fact-checking routines to verify information and an improvement in teachers’ AI literacy.

Generative AI continues to innovate and reshape various industries, including education. It’s fascinating to see how this technology is being explored and tested in the school environment. The training workshop mentioned in the article provides teachers with valuable insights into the potential applications of generative AI, such as using chatbots as conversational partners for language practice or incorporating it into hands-on activities.

Of course, implementing generative AI in education requires careful consideration and adherence to guidelines set by educational authorities. MEXT’s provisional guidelines serve as a helpful reference to ensure responsible and effective use of generative AI.

As AI technology continues to advance, it will be crucial for educators to enhance their AI literacy and explore opportunities to integrate generative AI into the curriculum. With the right approach and understanding, generative AI has the potential to enhance and enrich the learning experience for students.
