Perspectives of an AI Ethicist Regarding ChatGPT

The Ethical Concerns Surrounding ChatGPT and AI

In the next five years, the world of smart generative AI will only continue to grow and advance in numerous industries, particularly in media and entertainment. However, the rise of AI has been met with concerns from individuals such as Stephen Hawking and Elon Musk, who have called for legislation and a pause on generative AI. Francois Chollet, an AI researcher at Google, downplays the impact that large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT will have on the market. Despite this, many AI ethicists are gravely concerned about the risks inherent in AI and the need for a vision of the world we want to live in and unity in legal framework to prevent the creation of a world where machines dominate mankind.

While there is much excitement surrounding generative AI and chatbots, there are also prickly issues to resolve, such as producing toxic content, surfacing up biases on minorities, copyright infringement, and labor market shifts. Furthermore, one of the major risks associated with generative AI is the hallucination effect that creates an answer based on inaccurate data sourced from fake news.

AI leader and deep learning expert, Yoshua Bengio, advocates for a legal framework to create some guardrails around the AI industry. The use of ChatGPT and other large language models raises legal and ethical issues related to copyright, privacy, misuse, bias, and transparency. As this industry matures, we must answer more of the challenging ethical questions on AI to ensure that technology does not negatively impact society.

Editor Notes:

The rise of AI has been a hot topic for a while now, with positive and negative opinions flooding media outlets. While it’s understandable to be excited about this advancement in technology, it’s equally important to consider the potential risks and dangers that it poses to humanity as well. We must ensure that laws are put in place, and ethical guidelines are followed to make sure that technology does not get away from us. Using ChatGPT on Telegram: A Step-by-Step Guide

Revolutionize Your Telegram Chatting Experience with AI Chatbots

Telegram has become one of the most feature-rich messaging apps with over 700 million monthly active users worldwide, and it was one of the pioneers in embracing bot technology. The bots in Telegram offer automated tasks, such as email management, translation, file conversion, and broadcasting, including those powered by GPT models, the language engine that OpenAI uses.

If you’re looking to engage in some AI convenience on Telegram, using a bot based on OpenAI’s GPT models would be the most obvious choice. However, the best and most reliable option for accessing a GPT-based conversational AI is Bing Chat. It’s now directly incorporated into Microsoft’s Swiftkey keyboard.

First things first, Bing Chat is based on the latest GPT-4 language model, and it offers more control over the quality of your results, unlike AI bots that you must subscribe to after quickly hitting the free-query limit. Second, it’s free! If you want to experience ChatGPT on Telegram, Bing Chat is the way to go. So, let’s see how it works.

How to Use ChatGPT on Telegram with a Keyboard App

Step 1: Download the Microsoft SwiftKey app on your phone from the Play Store or the App Store.

Step 2: Once you’ve downloaded the app, enable SwiftKey as your preferred keyboard on your phone. Go to your phone’s pre-installed keyboard in any application and tap or press the circular globe button, and then select Microsoft SwiftKey.

Step 3: After selecting Microsoft SwiftKey as your preferred keyboard, tap the Bing Chat icon in the top-left corner.

Step 4: Once you tap the Bing icon, you will see three options at the top: Search, Tone, and Chat.

Step 5: Select the Chat option to start an AI conversation.

Step 6: After your query, tap the brush icon on the left to begin anew.

How to Use ChatGPT Bots on Telegram

The other reliable option to use ChatGPT or any other GPT-based conversational models on Telegram is through bots. However, keep in mind that most of these bots have limitations, and in some cases, you are only allowed five queries each day. Additionally, after reaching the limit, you will be asked to pay a subscription fee. Nonetheless, for ChatGPT bots, the most reliable ones are ChatGPTonTelegram, BuddyGPT, and RogerDaVinci.

For ChatGPTonTelegram’s illustration, here’s how you can access this AI bot:

Step 1: Open your phone’s web browser and visit the chatgptontelegram.com website.

Step 2: Click on the purple “Get Started for Free” button on the homepage. This will open a dedicated chat page with the AI bot in Telegram.

Step 3: After being redirected to the app, the bot will share a series of instructional messages. You can also summon the ChatGPT bot in group chats or in an existing person-to-person chat with a simple text prompt.

Step 4: Type your query, and the ChatGPT bot will give you an appropriate response.

Why You Should Use Bing Chat in SwiftKey Instead of Telegram Bot

Compared to a ChatGPT bot that works on a separate Telegram chat, Bing Chat on SwiftKey is far superior. First and foremost, it is based on the latest GPT-4 model by OpenAI. Unlike ChatGPT, Bing Chat on the SwiftKey keyboard lets you select the tone of your answers between creative, balanced, and precise options. Additionally, you can voice type your query with the dictation feature on SwiftKey, which is integrated into Bing Chat.

Another significant advantage of Bing Chat is that SwiftKey includes a full browser right in your keyboard. Suppose you’re chatting with a friend on Telegram, and you need to do a web search to verify or find something quickly. Instead of leaving the app, launch the Bing feature on your keyboard and tap the Search option. Enter your query, and receive web search results right on the keyboard.

Bing Chat is free on the SwiftKey keyboard, and you can post as many queries as you want, search your way through the web, and access the browser. In contrast, the bots have a stingy free allowance, and they’re slower when returning an error due to server shenanigans. Remember, none of these bots are an unlimited free lunch. A few of them permit as stingy as five ChatGPT queries per day before asking for a subscription fee. Also, they don’t have much of a privacy policy, and we’d suggest to only trust them for generic queries.

Editor Notes

Bots in Telegram offer great convenience with their automated tasks, including those powered by GPT models. However, they have limitations, and Bing Chat guarantees a better user experience. It is free and offers seamless integration with the SwiftKey keyboard. If you’re keen on AI convenience on Telegram, make sure to use Bing Chat in SwiftKey. G-7 Commits to Pursue “Responsible AI” in Light of ChatGPT’s Rapid Expansion.

The G-7 Ministers Promote Responsible AI Use and Data Free Flow with Trust

The Group of Seven (G-7) advanced nations have agreed to promote “responsible” use of artificial intelligence (AI) as they seek to harness rapidly developing technologies such as AI bot ChatGPT that could be highly beneficial but also pose privacy concerns and risks of being misused. As exchanges of data become a key part of global trade, digital and technology ministers from Japan, the United States, and European nations also affirmed during their two-day meeting in eastern Japan the need to establish an international arrangement to enhance the free flow of trusted data across national borders.

The action plan endorsed by the G-7 ministers towards “creating open and enabling environments for responsible AI innovation” involves broader stakeholder participation in developing international standards over AI governance frameworks and promoting dialogue on topics such as risk assessment. The G-7 also voiced commitment to constructing secure network infrastructure to support emerging and developing countries and promoting collaboration to improve the connectivity of undersea cables.

To promote so-called Data Free Flow with Trust, a concept proposed by Japan, the G-7 ministers noted the need to “accelerate and operationalize” the idea, calling that data “an enabler of economic growth, development and social well-being.” The idea aims to enable the full potential of global economic growth without compromising the privacy and security of individuals and businesses. Under the new institutional framework, the Japanese government aims to lay out a road map for future projects such as creating a base registry that businesses can use to reference other countries’ data regulations.

The joint statement cited five principles for policymakers to govern the use of AI and other emerging technologies, including the rule of law, due process, democracy, respect for human rights, and harnessing opportunities for innovation. One of these emerging technologies is cyber-physical systems, which transmit information from the real world through sensors and other devices to the digital world, where the data can be analyzed to generate insights and control physical processes in the future.

ChatGPT, made by U.S. venture OpenAI, was trained on massive amounts of data, enabling it to process and simulate human-like conversations with users. Its users reached 100 million around the world in less than three months. “Given that generative AI technologies are increasingly prominent across countries and sectors, we recognize the need to take stock in the near term of the opportunities and challenges of these technologies and to continue promoting safety and trust,” the G-7 ministers said in a joint declaration adopted after they wrapped up their talks in Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture.

The gathering took place as the fast-moving pace of AI development has highlighted the need for international standards to govern the technology. Countries have so far differed in their approaches to balancing the use of the innovative technology and regulations, with Japan taking a more cautious approach in regulations than the United States and European nations. Speaking at a press conference, Japanese Internal Affairs and Communications Minister Takeaki Matsumoto emphasized that AI use could be “beneficial to humankind” and said he hopes to spread such awareness to the world.

The G-7 countries aim to collaborate in addressing internet shutdowns, network restrictions, and violations of human rights using digital tools, as well as fake news and other forms of disinformation seen, for example, during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, to tackle the tactics of digital authoritarianism. Concerns linger over digital authoritarianism seen in countries such as China, where surveillance and other high-tech tools are believed to be used to repress freedom of expression and violate other human rights and fundamental freedoms.

Editor Notes:

The G-7 ministers’ agreement to promote responsible use of AI and establish an international arrangement to enhance the free flow of trusted data is a step towards ensuring that the benefits of AI are realized in a manner that does not pose privacy concerns and risks of being misused. It is also important to combat digital authoritarianism and address privacy concerns in the use of emerging technologies as we strive to promote the responsible use of AI. How to Create an AI Advertisement Video in Just 3 Hours

Create Your Own AI Commercial in Under Three Hours

The days of expensive commercial budgets, large teams of creatives and actors putting together scenes, and time-consuming delays over visual effects will soon be over. At a time when chatbots are sounding more human than ever and art generators can create images that look like photos, the possibilities for AI-generated content are endless.

Pizza Later, a motion graphics artist, recently produced a fictional commercial for an imaginary pizza joint called Pepperoni Hug Spot, entirely created using AI-generated assets. The project was done in under three hours and caught the attention of Twitter CEO Elon Musk and the official Pizza Hut account.

AI is now capable of generating scripts, artwork, video content, and even music to create a complete commercial with just a few tools and a bit of creativity. Here’s how you can create your own AI commercial in under three hours:

Start with a Script

The foundation of every good commercial is a script to guide the production. Pizza Later used GPT-4, the newest version of GPT, to create the dialogue for the voice-over. Since its launch in December, content creators have increasingly used ChatGPT to make their jobs easier.

Put Together a Voice-Over

AI voice-over technology can create professional-sounding voice-over without hiring a voice actor. Pizza Later used Eleven Labs to create the voice-over by plugging in the script created in GPT-4.

Use an Image Generator to Create Art

AI-powered image generators, such as Midjourney, can create still images by providing a descriptive prompt, using a thesaurus to modify phrasing, and specifying the intent.

Use a Video Generator to Create Clips

AI-powered video generators, such as Runway AI, can create short video clips that can be combined to make a full commercial. The Pepperoni Hug Spot commercial featured clips that were disjointed, disconcerting, and full of discrepancies, but to create original video clips out of nothing wasn’t even possible even a few months ago.

Create a Soundtrack

AI music generation software, such as Soundraw, can create custom music in various genres, moods, and lengths. Most of the results sound extremely bland and corporate, but it can be just what you need for a commercial.

Edit It All Together

Video editing still requires human intervention, but the AI-generated assets make the process much quicker. Pizza Later manually added VHS filters, transitions, and some noises in the Pepperoni Hug Spot commercial to complete the look.

Put It Up For the World to See

After producing the commercial, Pizza Later was surprised by the online reaction it received. While some found it entertaining, others were shocked by the power of AI-generated content. The future looks bright for the use of AI in creating commercials, and the possibilities for generating creativity are endless.

Editor Notes
AI-generated content is quickly becoming a game-changer in the world of marketing and advertising. From chatbots to art generators, creative professionals can now use AI to produce content faster and more efficiently. As AI technology continues to improve, we expect to see an increase in the use of AI-generated content in commercials, film, and television. “ChatGPT Resumes Activities in Italy following Compliance with Regulatory Requirements”

Open AI’s ChatGPT is Back in Italy After Addressing Regulatory Concerns

Open AI’s ChatGPT chatbot is operational in Italy again after being temporarily banned due to suspicions of violating the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). The Italian data protection agency, Garante, had also raised concerns about ChatGPT’s lack of an age verification system for underage users. However, Open AI has since expanded its privacy policy, allowing individuals across Europe to object to processing their data, and has introduced an age verification feature for users aged 13+ and 18+. Garante commended these efforts and encourages the company to continue to comply with European data protection legislation. As AI-powered services such as ChatGPT gain traction, European authorities are intensifying efforts to regulate the rapidly developing industry and protect user interests.

Regulation and Compliance Efforts Increase for AI-Powered Services

As AI-powered services continue to gain popularity, regulatory concerns have heightened, leading to increased efforts to regulate the industry and protect users’ interests. In the case of ChatGPT, the temporary ban prompted a task force to conduct comprehensive research on the chatbot, and the European Union parliament initiated the trilogue stage of the AI Act. This bill aims to check the operations of AI-based companies and mandates them to disclose any copyrighted material used to develop their products.

Garante’s Suspension of ChatGPT

On March 31, Italy’s data protection agency, Garante, suspended Open AI’s ChatGPT services due to a data breach exposing users’ conversations and payment information. Additionally, Garante noted that the chatbot had no legal backing to defend its enormous database of individual data, which it claimed was being used in training algorithms. Garante also highlighted ChatGPT’s lack of age verification, which exposed minors and underage users to potentially inappropriate content beyond their level of development and awareness.

Open AI’s Compliance

Following Garante’s temporary suspension of ChatGPT, Open AI agreed to expand its privacy policy to enable individuals across Europe, including non-users, to object to processing their data. Open AI also introduced an age verification feature that only allows users aged 13+ and 18+ to access ChatGPT. In addition, users aged 13+ must obtain a parental consent. Garante commended the company for its regulatory compliance efforts and hopes that Open AI continues to comply with European data protection legislation.

Conclusion

Open AI’s ChatGPT chatbot is now operational again in Italy after taking necessary measures to comply with Garante’s demands. The company has expanded its privacy policy and introduced an age verification feature to protect underage users from potentially inappropriate content. European authorities are intensifying efforts to regulate AI-powered services and protect user interests. Open AI’s compliance with Garante demonstrates the importance of complying with data protection and privacy laws and regulations in the AI industry.

ChatGPT: The Reason Why Indian Companies are Embracing it Wholeheartedly

Why Indian Businesses are Jumping on the ChatGPT Bandwagon

The release of ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, in November 2022 by American research lab Open AI is making waves in the Indian business world. With Air India and Tata Consultancy Services as early adopters, businesses are curious about the advantages of ChatGPT and how it can affect business growth.

Breaking Digital Barriers

ChatGPT has captured the attention of Contentstack, a personalised content creation platform for audience engagement. The integration of ChatGPT into their headless content management system (CMS) saves clients both time and cost, enabling teams to create brand-specific content quickly. With just a few clicks, users can produce metadata tags, summaries, outlines, keywords, and full-length blogs optimised for search engines.

A Coder’s Dream?

The combination of human skill and ChatGPT’s efficiency accelerates the coding process. Some developers have embraced this productivity, while others fear losing jobs to chatbots. Study Shows ChatGPT Surpassing Doctors in Their Responses to Patients’ Queries

Can Chatbots Replace Doctors? New Study Shows ChatGPT Outperformed Doctors in Providing Empathetic Advice to Patients

In a world where virtual care and AI are becoming increasingly prevalent, the question arises: can chatbots replace human doctors? While the answer to that is still no, research shows that AI chatbots have a lot to offer in terms of empathetic and quality advice. A recent study compared nearly 200 “doctor-patient” exchanges with a licensed health-care panel and found that OpenAI’s ChatGPT outperformed real doctors in terms of providing empathetic responses by a wide margin of 79%. The chatbot’s responses were also four times more likely to be ranked as good or very good quality, and ten times more likely to be empathetic or very empathetic.

The research findings suggest that AI chatbots can help address one of the biggest problems contributing to physician burnout – the unending, overflowing inboxes. With the pandemic-driven surge in virtual care, doctors are responding with limiting responses, billing for responses, or delegating responses to less trained support staff, which means that patients’ questions go unanswered or receive bad responses. AI chatbots like ChatGPT can help improve the workflow for providers and improve the quality of the responses that patients receive.

It’s essential to note that artificial empathy isn’t real empathy, and AI might not replace actual doctors anytime soon. However, the study provides greater insight into how AI can assist doctors in providing personalized and quality healthcare. AI can draft a response to a patient’s question, which the real doctor can review and enhance by removing irrelevant information and correcting wrong information. Patients need answers, and getting them answers will always be more critical than how they feel.

In conclusion, while AI chatbots like ChatGPT cannot replace human doctors, they can complement and enhance their services by providing empathetic and quality advice. By focusing on the heart of medicine, doctors can better address the messages that matter while AI chatbots focus on the rest. The question now is: how do we integrate and evaluate the use of AI chatbots to provide care? Only time will tell.

Editor Notes:

As AI technology continues to evolve, it’s exciting to see how it can benefit healthcare providers and patients alike. AI chatbots like ChatGPT have tremendous potential to assist clinicians in providing timely and accurate care to their patients. By improving workflow and response quality, AI chatbots can help create a more efficient and effective healthcare system that better meets the needs of everyone involved. The Potential of Natural Language Processing Unleashed

Enhancing Industries with Natural Language Processing: Opportunities and Challenges

Introduction

In today’s fast-paced world, businesses are constantly looking for ways to improve their offerings and increase customer satisfaction. One technology that has gained significant traction in recent years is Natural Language Processing (NLP). As per Statista, the market for NLP is expected to be 14 times larger in 2025 than it was in 2017. However, there are significant challenges that companies must overcome to fully leverage the potential of this powerful tool.

What is Natural Language Processing?

NLP is a field of artificial intelligence concerned with the interaction between human language and computers. It involves teaching machines to understand human language, make sense of it, and respond accordingly. NLP is used globally across a range of industries and businesses to extract insights, classify data, and automate processes.

The Challenge of Human Language

One significant challenge in NLP is that human language is complex, and it can be difficult for algorithms to understand the nuances and ambiguity in language. Sarcasm, irony, or even a typo can completely change the meaning of a sentence, making it challenging to train algorithms to extract the intended message accurately.

This is particularly important when analyzing sentiment since accurate analysis enables service agents to prioritize which dissatisfied customers to help first or which customers to extend promotional offers to.

Ethical Considerations for NLP

Another significant challenge for businesses using NLP is ethical considerations. NLP algorithms can analyze significant data, including personal data such as social media posts, emails, or chat logs. Companies must be transparent and honest about their use of NLP technology and ensure that they follow ethical guidelines to protect the privacy of their customers. They must also ensure that their algorithms are not biased towards any particular group of people or language.

Opportunities and Benefits of AI Technology

Despite the challenges, businesses that successfully implement NLP technology stand to gain significant benefits. NLP can help businesses automate customer service, improve response times, and reduce human errors. The programmes can be leveraged to meet business goals by improving customer experience, and it can help businesses automate content creation, translation, and localization processes, saving time and money.

NLP can also help companies make data-driven decisions by analyzing customer feedback, product reviews, and social media data. It can even enhance business intelligence and aid in decision-making.

Application of NLP

NLP is used globally across a range of industries and businesses. The Usage of Generative AI ChatGPT to Imply Legal Representation, Raising Concerns about Ethics and Laws around AI Technology.

The Rise of Generative AI and Legalese Intimidation: The Use of AI to Mimic Legal Writing and Gain an Edge in Disputes

Are you aware of the latest trend in using generative AI to mimic legalese and gain an edge in disputes? It’s a sneaky and intriguing concept that is gaining popularity among everyday people looking to appear like they have a lawyer at their fingertips. By using generative AI, such as ChatGPT, people are able to create legal-sounding essays and letters to intimidate their opponents and gain more leverage in negotiations.

But while this approach may seem clever at first, it’s important to understand the potential risks and legal implications of using AI in this way. For one thing, pretending to be an attorney can lead to serious legal consequences, including hefty fines and even jail time. And while generative AI can help you create impressive-looking legal documents, it’s important to remember that they’re not substitutes for actual legal advice and representation.

That being said, there are certainly some interesting use cases for generative AI in legal writing. For example, a recent news story highlights a woman who used ChatGPT to create a letter in legalese that would intimidate her landlord into fixing the broken washing machines in her apartment complex. By writing the letter in legal jargon, she hoped to convey a sense of seriousness and legal authority that would prompt the landlord to take action.

While we don’t know for sure if the letter actually had the desired effect, it does raise some interesting questions about the potential benefits and drawbacks of using generative AI in legal writing. On one hand, it can help level the playing field for people who don’t have access to legal representation or can’t afford it. But on the other hand, it can also encourage people to rely on AI-generated documents instead of seeking out real legal advice and representation.

So what’s the takeaway here? While generative AI can certainly help enhance your legal writing, it’s important to always seek out real legal advice and representation when needed. Don’t rely solely on AI-generated documents to get your point across or intimidate your opponents. And always be aware of the potential risks and legal consequences of pretending to be an attorney. By combining the power of AI with real legal expertise, you can create a winning strategy that puts you on the path to success.

Editor Notes:

The use of generative AI in legal writing is a fascinating and complex issue, with both potential benefits and drawbacks. Study finds that ChatGPT offers more empathetic bedside advice to patients than doctors.

AI May be Better than Real Doctors at Answering Some Patient Questions

If you have ever had a question for your doctor and been frustrated by a delayed or unsatisfactory response, you aren’t alone. Doctors are facing an unprecedented number of electronic patient messages in the current pandemic climate, leading to overflowing inboxes and patients left with unanswered questions. However, AI may offer a solution to some of these problems. In a recent study comparing physician responses to ChatGPT’s AI-generated responses for nearly 200 “doctor-patient” exchanges, the automated chatbot earned higher ratings in both quality and empathy. While it remains to be seen how much of a role AI should play in medical care, the study suggests that use of AI could help with the influx of patient messages and allow doctors to focus on aspects of patient care beyond correspondence. Whether integrating AI would result in a complete substitution of human medical care remains to be seen.

AI Could Help Alleviate Overflowing Inboxes

Doctors are facing a significant challenge in the current pandemic climate, which has led to an unprecedented number of virtual visits and other electronic communication from patients. One major issue with this is the volume of patient messages inundating doctors, resulting in delayed or unsatisfactory responses. However, AI could be a solution to this problem. In a recent study, researchers compared physician responses to automated responses generated by a chatbot called ChatGPT. The AI-generated responses received higher ratings from a panel of healthcare professionals in not only quality but empathy as well. By using AI to assist with patient messages, doctors could be freed up to focus on other aspects of patient care beyond correspondence.

The Benefits of AI-Powered Response Are Clear

While AI cannot completely replace human medical care, the benefits of AI-powered responses are too great to ignore. As the study mentioned, the use of AI could help alleviate the overflowing inboxes of doctors dealing with an unprecedented volume of electronic patient messages. Additionally, the responses generated by ChatGPT were rated higher than those of human physicians in both quality and empathy, suggesting that the technology has a role to play in supplementing current practices. However, bioethicists remain cautious about the role AI should play in medical care, and it remains to be seen how much integration of AI we can expect to see in daily medical practice.

Editor Notes:
As AI technology continues to evolve and improve, it makes sense that healthcare professionals would look to it as a means of enhancing patient care. While the idea of relying on a machine for medical advice may still seem far-fetched to some, the results of the ChatGPT study suggest that AI could at least play a complementary role in addressing some of the challenges faced by doctors today. As with any new technology, it will be important to carefully consider the potential benefits and drawbacks of integrating AI into daily medical practice. However, if AI can help alleviate some of the pressure on doctors and improve the quality of care provided to patients, then it seems like a trend worth watching closely. Walmart Employs Artificial Intelligence for Haggling Shopping Cart Rates with Vendors

The AI Bargain: Walmart Using AI to Negotiate Prices with Suppliers

It seems like the retail industry might be ready to embrace the power of artificial intelligence (AI). Walmart, one of the biggest names in retail, is reportedly using AI to bargain with suppliers to get the best prices on some of its necessities – and it’s working.

According to a report from Bloomberg, Walmart has been using a chatbot developed by California-based Pactum Inc., a company that specializes in autonomous negotiation software. Walmart can tell the software what products it needs and its budget, and then the AI will communicate with human sellers to get Walmart the best deal.

Similar to the viral AI chatbot from OpenAI called ChatGPT, Walmart’s experience with AI is going swimmingly. Since the program began in 2021, Walmart has reached deals using AI with 68% of its suppliers, saving an average of 3% on the contracts it has negotiated via Pactum’s AI. For a billion-dollar company, that can amount to huge savings.

The AI revolution poses many questions about how AI will intersect with the economy and workforce. A Stanford University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology study found that 14% of employees who used ChatGPT in their workflow saw an increase in productivity, with the least experienced and least skilled workers completing tasks 35% faster.

While OpenAI CEO Sam Altman revealed earlier this month that the company is not releasing ChatGPT-5 anytime soon, it’s clear that AI is making an impact in the retail world. In fact, three out of four suppliers have told Walmart that they prefer to negotiate with an AI instead of a human, according to Bloomberg.

However, Walmart is reportedly only using the AI to negotiate with suppliers that supply the company with essentials like shopping carts and has not yet begun using it to negotiate prices on in-store goods.

What distinguishes the Two Most Prevalent Language Models?

GPT vs. BERT: What’s the Difference and Which One is Better?

The rise of natural language processing has been astounding and ChatGPT is a prime example of its capabilities. Thanks to transformer architecture models such as GPT-3, GPT-4, and BERT, AI can now engage in human-like conversations and even write code. But which language model is better and what sets them apart? Let’s dive in and find out.

Explaining GPT-3 and GPT-4

Generative Pre-trained Transformer 3 or GPT-3 is an autoregressive language model created by OpenAI in June 2020. It is one of the largest language models ever constructed with a transformer architecture consisting of 175 billion parameters. With the ability to generate natural language text, answer questions, compose poetry, and write complete articles, it has the potential to revolutionize chatbots, language translation, and content creation.

GPT-4 is the latest and largest in a series of GPT models and is accessible with a ChatGPT Plus subscription. With an estimated one trillion parameters, it is six times larger than the GPT-3 model and therefore, much more accurate.

What is BERT?

Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers or BERT is a pre-training language representation model created by Google in 2018. Unlike other NLP models, BERT uses bidirectional flow during processing, allowing it to use context from both directions. This allows BERT to better understand the meaning of words in context and provide more accurate search results for complex queries.

The Main Differences Between GPT and BERT

Architecture:
BERT uses bidirectional context representation, processing text from both left-to-right and right-to-left to capture context from both ends. GPT, on the other hand, generates text sequentially from left to right, predicting the next word in a sentence based on the preceding words.

Training Data:
BERT is trained on a masked language model, predicting the next word based on contextual information. However, GPT-3 is trained on a large-scale corpus of text containing web pages, articles, books, and Common Crawl’s publicly available archive of web content.

Use Cases:
BERT is more capable for sentiment analysis, named entity recognition, and answering questions accurately. GPT excels in content creation, text summarization, and machine translation.

Usability:
While ChatGPT offers easy access to the GPT model, using BERT requires downloading the Jupyter Notebook and setting up a development environment using Google Colab or TensorFlow.

BERT and GPT Show the Capabilities of AI

The introduction of BERT and GPT has disrupted workflows and changed job functions. Though there is skepticism around AI adoption and its impact on jobs, many companies, including Google and OpenAI, are working to establish controls and regulate AI technology for the betterment of the future.

In conclusion, both BERT and GPT have unique features that serve different purposes. Depending on your use case, one language model may be better than the other. However, the capabilities of AI shown through the development of these models are truly remarkable.

Editor Notes

The technological advancements in language processing mean that we can now converse with AI in a more human-like manner. The applications that have been developed from GPT and BERT training models are a clear indication of the direction that the AI industry is heading. However, it is crucial that companies and organizations establish controls and regulations to ensure that these advancements are beneficial for society as a whole. Insights into the Future of AI from the Faux Drake and The Weeknd Track

How AI is Supercharging Creativity and Entertainment

AI has been a hot topic recently, with some experts fearing that it could take over our jobs and spread misinformation. However, there’s a major component to why AI feels like it’s taking the world by storm: it’s fun. The most exciting forms of AI are not the kind being used to increase productivity, but the kind that is used to entertain us.

Over the past few months, AI has made incredible strides in helping people create different media. With varying degrees of instruction, AI can now craft photorealistic illustrations, design video games, or even come up with catchy tunes with top-40 potential.

Some may be concerned about using a technology that has serious flaws and consequences. But many AI enthusiasts believe that there’s nothing wrong with having fun and being excited about this technology. Pietro Schirano, a design lead at financial services startup Brex, is one of them. Schirano used GPT-4, the latest iteration of the AI technology from the company behind the viral ChatGPT app, OpenAI, to write working lines of code from simple prompts. He found that AI isn’t necessarily replacing workers, but rather making them “superhuman.”

Ethan Mollick, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton business school, believes that AI is “absolutely supercharging creativity.” However, there are concerns about authenticity in AI-generated media. The proliferation of AI-generated music has spooked record labels and unions, as it can potentially replace or erode artists. While some artists have embraced the concept of AI-generated media, others argue that human creativity cannot be replaced.

Ultimately, the real concerns may not lie in the technology itself, but in how it’s controlled and used. As Margaret Mitchell, chief ethics scientist for AI platform Hugging Face, pointed out, it’s tech leaders who mislead and push out tech inappropriately that pose the real dangers.

Overall, AI is both incredible and terrifying, but it’s clear that it’s here to stay. As we continue to explore new technologies and their potential, it’s important to keep in mind the consequences and ethics of how we use them.

Editor Notes

AI is an incredible tool that can supercharge our creativity and entertainment. However, we must also consider the potential consequences and ethical implications of how we use it. As AI becomes more prevalent in our lives, it’s essential to have open discussions about its impact and how we can control it. GPT News Room is dedicated to providing in-depth coverage of the latest AI developments and their impact on society. Follow us for the latest updates.

Despite Warning of Dangers, Elon Musk Intensifies A.I. Pursuits

Elon Musk Cuts Ties with OpenAI Over Twitter Data Licensing

Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur behind companies such as Tesla and SpaceX, has a complicated relationship with artificial intelligence (A.I.). While he believes the technology could be disastrous if managed poorly, he also sees it as a turning point for humanity. Recently, Musk became frustrated with the development of A.I. at OpenAI, which he helped found in 2015 as a non-profit, as he believes it no longer operates as a non-profit, and is building technology that takes sides on political and social debates. Musk is in talks with a researcher at the University of Toronto to build his own A.I. company called X.AI, and has hired top A.I. researchers from Google’s DeepMind at Twitter. Musk aims to create a rival to OpenAI’s ChatGPT that generates politically charged material without restrictions.

Musk believes that his own A.I. efforts offer better, safer alternatives than those of his competitors. He has ramped up his own A.I. activities since cutting ties with OpenAI, while speaking publicly about the hazards of A.I. Musk recently signed an open letter calling for a six-month pause on the technology’s development due to its “profound risks to society”. He also called for regulators to protect society from A.I., even though his car company has used A.I. systems to push the boundaries of self-driving technologies that have been involved in fatal crashes.

Musk’s roots in A.I. date back to 2011, when he was an early investor in DeepMind, a London start-up that set out to build A.G.I. He later helped fund the Future of Life Institute, which explores existential risks to humanity, and gave $10 million. In 2015, Musk met with several A.I. researchers and entrepreneurs, and OpenAI was founded as a non-profit, with Musk and others pledging $1 billion in donations. OpenAI vowed to “open source” all its research, but while developing ChatGPT, the lab realized that openly sharing its software could be dangerous. Using A.I., individuals and organizations can potentially generate and distribute false information more quickly and efficiently than they otherwise could.

In December, Musk became angry about the development of A.I. and cut OpenAI off from Twitter’s data, after he learned that OpenAI was licensing Twitter’s data for about $2 million a year to help build ChatGPT. The relationship between OpenAI and Twitter came about after Twitter was purchased by Musk in October for $44 billion. Musk believed that OpenAI was not paying Twitter enough for the data.

Editor Notes

Elon Musk’s decision to cut ties with OpenAI has caused a stir in the A.I. community. While he has voiced concerns over the technology’s hazards, he is also pushing forward with his own A.I. projects. His actions highlight the need for open discussion and greater transparency around the development of A.I. technologies, and the importance of closely examining the relationship between corporations and research institutions when it comes to A.I. research.

Is Sam Altman from OpenAI Creating a Tech Dream or a Science Fiction Nightmare?

Sam Altman: The Idealist Who Wants to Build an All-Knowing AI

Sam Altman is a tech visionary who has been making waves in Silicon Valley for nearly a decade. He’s the CEO of OpenAI, a research nonprofit that seeks to advance digital intelligence for the benefit of humanity. Altman is also an investor in clean energy and therapies to delay the effects of aging. But his latest project, Worldcoin, has raised concerns among critics who see it as a dystopian nightmare.

Worldcoin is an identity-verification startup that aims to create a global registry of everyone in the world. The company plans to scan people’s eyeballs with a silver, melon-size orb to create a unique digital identity that could be used to collect universal basic income. When Worldcoin came out of stealth two years ago, it was met with criticism from people like Edward Snowden, who called it a ticket-punch for the human body.

Despite the backlash, Altman remains steadfast in his belief that technology can improve the world. He’s on the board of seven companies, including a psychedelic-drug startup and a pair of nuclear power labs. Altman’s success has been recognized by Time, which named him one of its 100 most influential people.

However, some have begun to question Altman’s motives. In 2019, OpenAI created a separate “capped-profit” entity, which many saw as a betrayal of the company’s founding mission. Critics have also called on OpenAI to share its training data with outside researchers, arguing that an audit of its models is necessary to ensure they work without bias.

Altman acknowledges these concerns, but he remains committed to pushing the boundaries of technology. He sees himself as an idealist who wants to create a better world, and he’s willing to take risks to achieve that goal. Altman’s living room has become a hub for new technologies and companies, and he’s constantly hosting events to bring smart people together.

Altman’s network of friends and colleagues has paid off in the form of successful investments and partnerships. He’s always on the lookout for founders who are willing to take on implausible projects and push the limits of what technology can achieve.

In the end, Altman sees himself as a missionary for the tech world. He believes that technology can solve some of the world’s biggest problems, and he’s committed to making that vision a reality. Despite the criticisms and concerns, Altman remains convinced that the benefits of technology far outweigh the risks.

Editor Notes:

Sam Altman is certainly an interesting figure in the tech world. His ambition to build an all-knowing AI has both captivated and concerned many people in Silicon Valley and beyond. While some view him as an idealistic visionary, others see him as a misguided technocrat who’s playing with fire. Whatever your opinion may be, it’s clear that Altman is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with technology, and he’s doing it with a sense of purpose and passion that’s rare in the industry.
